Boston Strong Day

The student council raised over $400 today for Mass General Hospital's FIGHT against childhood cancer. Mrs. Visocchi is running the Boston Marathon in support of this great cause. We all wish her the best and congratulate her on running the Boston Marathon.

Police Arrival

Shayla Kocur came to Pine Glen Elementary this morning in a Burlington Police SUV along with some of her friends. Officer Cross, our school resource officer, drove Shayla and her friends. All of Shayla's first grade classmates welcomed them on their arrival.

Kindergarten

Today during my daily walk through, I saw Mrs. Carney, school librarian, working with a center in Mrs. Hoyt's kindergarten classroom developing cover pages for books that the students are writing. I also saw Mrs. Hoyt working with a guided reading group at another center.

PARCC Testing Schedule For Burlington Elementary Schools

Week 1 - April 26-28 (One session of ELA each morning)

Tuesday, April 26 - One session of ELA (90 Minutes)
Wednesday, April 27 - One session of ELA (75 minutes Grade 3, 90 Minutes grades 4-5)
Thursday, April 28 - One session of ELA (90 minutes)

Week 2 - May 2-5   (One session of math each morning)

Monday, May 2 - One Session of Math (60 minutes)
Tuesday, May 3 - One sessions of Math (60 minutes)
Wednesday, May 4  - One session of Math (60 minutes)
Thursday, May 5 - One session of Math (60 minutes)

Week 3 - May 10-12

Individual student make- up sessions as needed.  Regular schedules resume for all other students.

Week 4 - May 16-17

Grade 5 - Science MCAS testing (2 45-minute sessions)

Grade 4 Weather Day

The fourth graders had Weather Day this morning. I greatly enjoyed students explaining to me the differences and similarities between weather and climate.

Message from PTO

Teacher Appreciation Week is May 2nd-May 6th!
We need your help to show our Pine Glen teachers and staff how much they mean to us!
On Monday May 2nd the PTO is hosting breakfast for the teachers and staff at Pine Glen.  We would appreciate your support by bringing breakfast items to school between 7:00-7:45am.
On Wednesday May 4th the PTO is hosting lunch for the teachers and staff.  The PTO will purchase the main dishes but we would appreciate other assorted food donations be delivered to school between 7:10-10:00am.

We request you sign up by Thursday April 25th.  You will receive an email reminder through the SignUpGenius website (3) three days before the event reminding you what you signed up for.

Career Dress Up Day

Students arrived at school today dressed up as what they would like to be when they grow up. Staff also dressed up as what they would have chosen as a career if they were not in their current career. Did you know that Mrs. Visocchi might have been a dolphin trainer, Ms. Zanotti an artist, and Mr. Lyons a pediatrician?
