Moving Up Ceremony

I would like to congratulate all the fifth graders for a great job today at the Moving-Up Ceremony. We will all miss this fifth grade class and wish them the best of luck in middle school.

Attention 3rd graders and parents re: 4th grade Instrumental Lessons

3rd graders recently attended an assembly that demonstrated the flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet and trombone. Students interested in beginning lessons on one of these instruments received a notice describing the instrumental program. For more information please go to elemband.wordpress.com.  A commitment to practicing at home is essential for success.  Beginner lessons will start the week of September 8 Any questions please email Mr. Napierkowski at napierkowski@bpsk12.org

Grade 4 Invention Convention

The fourth graders did great work today on their inventions. They showed outstanding creativity and problem solving skills. They also learned a tremendous amount of information about simple machines.

Volunteer Opportunity

We are looking for a parent volunteer to help recruit volunteers (55+ local residents) to participate in Bridges Together, a program for fourth graders in Burlington. We would like to expand the program to reach more of the fourth grade classrooms but we need additional volunteers to be able to expand.
Dates:  June 2014 - June 2015
Responsibilities:
  1. Help support the Bridges programs at Pine Glen and throughout the community – being a bridge between the program, the PTO and the greater community

  2. Attend the kick-off celebration and a ½ day training in September and be in touch with the Volunteer Coordinator(s) throughout the year via email and/or phone
  3. Work as a team to recruit seniors for all schools.  This includes:
    • Posting flyers around town
    • Getting blurbs into their school newsletters and religious organization bulletins
    • Talking to leaders in organizations they belong to – and helping to coordinate short presentations on Bridges

  4. Attend the reunion (one Monday morning, 10-12PM) for your school if your schedule permits

Summer Reading with Audiobooks!

This is a guest post by School Librarian, Laura D'Elia

Thank you to the Pine Glen PTO for graciously purchasing the streaming audiobook service called Tales2Go! In LTC classes, students have been learning how to use Tales2Go and exploring the many audiobooks.

You can set up Tales2Go on your home or personal devices so the students can listen to audiobooks all summer long (and for the whole 2014-2015 school year!). It works on desktops, laptops, iOS devices, as well as Android devices.

Use the instructional flyer below to help you get started. Scroll down in the flyer to find the downloading instructions.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at 781-221-7798 or email me at delia@bpsk12.org
