On Friday I had the opportunity to accompany the first graders on their field trip to Legoland Discovery Center. The students enjoyed the opportunity to be creative and expand their imaginations.
Water Wheels
3rd grade students tested their water wheels on Friday. Students were looking to see how many rotations the wheel would make with their first design.

“Weather or Not” – Week of January 25, 2015
Posted on January 25, 2015
I am hearing the same weather forecast as everyone else. It appears that we could be hit with some significant snow Monday through Wednesday. If everything unfolds as predicted, I am hoping to get the school day in on Monday. Please have back-up childcare plans for Monday afternoon, Tuesday and possibly Wednesday – depending on the clean-up.
Everyone will receive a telephone message with the final decisions, but I wanted to share my early thoughts given the information I am reading.

Cold Weather and Clothing
We have had very cold temperatures as we begin 2015. Please make sure students have a warm coat and and proper clothing to stay warm for outdoor recess. If students would like to wear sweatshirts, they should also bring a coat to wear over them in order to keep warm at recess.
Pine Glen Student Handbook 2014-2015 (pg. 11)
Outdoor Recess
On most days except on days of inclement weather or when the temperature is below 20 degrees Fahrenheit, students go outside to play and enjoy the outdoors. If there is medical documentation that your child cannot go out on cold days, a note from the pediatrician is necessary in order for your child to remain indoors. If your child is well enough to come to school, they are well enough to go outside during recess. It is very important that students come to school with proper outdoor attire, such as jackets, hats, and gloves in order for them to be safe and comfortable during recess.

Pajama Day Fundraiser on Friday, January 16, 2015
On Friday, January 16th, Student Council will be hosting a Pajama Day for Pillow Pets. Here is more information, taken from Mrs. Sarah Visocchi's blog: http://visocchi.blogspot.com/
I have run the past 3 Boston Marathons for Massachusetts General Hospital to raise funds in the fight against pediatric cancer. This year the Student Council is helping to give back by hosting a Pajama Day for Pillow Pets on Friday, January 16th. Please consider helping this cause by donating at least $1 on or before Friday of next week.
During February vacation I will bring the Pillow Pets that we are able to purchase with the pajama day funds to Mass. General and give them to the children that our marathon team runs for. Trust me, the smiles are HUGE when the kids see the pets! These Pillow Pets are comfortable and provide a sense of home to kids who spend a considerable amount of time in the hospital. We appreciate your support!
