Through Burlington's Adopt-A-Class program, Reading Cooperative Bank has signed on as corporate sponsor of the fourth grade class (Class of 2023). Jack Ferren, Vice-President, and Ryan Wolters, who manages the Burlington branch of the bank, visited the class yesterday and led the students through a lesson on personal finances, beginning with distinguishing needs and wants. Students were challenged to come up with a plan to acquire a pet hamster and the necessary supplies to care for it, given a limited budget.Afterwards, each student received a piggy bank. Mr. Ferren and Mr. Wolters encouraged them to continue or begin a habit of saving. The bank has set up a fundraiser for the class as well (info below).
