5 Star Generals

Congratulations to all our 5 Star Generals!

The Pine Glen Reading Corps is a program designed to encourage children to read on their own time. Students complete a chart recording their reading and bring it into school.  Once students complete enough charts and move through the 14 ranks they become a 5 Star General.  Students have their name announced over the intercom system, receive a certificate and a prize.  This program has been in place at Pine Glen Elementary School for over 35 years. Thank you very much to the PTO for their continued commitment to funding this great program!

Read Across America Day: A Celebration of Reading and The Birth of Dr. Seuss

This blog post was originally posted on BPSEdTech.org.

Today Pine Glen is celebrating Read Across America Day and the birth of Dr. Seuss. This morning we had an all school reading celebration in the gym as all students and staff members read independently. Classroom teachers orchestrated guest readers to come into their classrooms. Many classrooms are getting together with other classrooms to read to each other. And the cafeteria is serving green eggs & ham for lunch. What a great day!
Here are some more pictures Mrs. Hoyt took of her kindergarten students visiting other classrooms.
