Kindergarten and Fourth Grade Collaboration
Kindergarten and fourth grade students had a showing of their research project on animals. Students in both grades greatly enjoyed learning about various animals and their characteristics.

Osmo and iPad
Today during my walkthrough's I saw students in the Learning Commons (A.K.A. Library) using iPads with attached Osmos to play Tangram. Students need to utilize spatial organizational skills and learn visual problem-solving by playing Tangram.
Chess Club at Pine Glen Elementary School
The following pictures are from the Chess Club which meets after school at Pine Glen in the learning commons. The students participating in it and Mr. Kip have all greatly enjoyed it.

Pine Glen Turkey Trot
When: Friday, December 1, 2017, at 9:00
Where: 1 lap run around the school, start and finish in front of school
Who: 3rd, 4th and 5th graders
Parents are welcome to come down and cheer on the runners!
(The run was originally scheduled for November 22nd but, was canceled due to the weather.)

Science Assembly
Thank very much Mr. Papodnis, retired director of the Burlington Science Center, for the amazing science presentation during our all school assembly today. Students and staff loved learning about concepts like force, chemical reactions, and simple machines during the presentation.

Grade 5
Career Day
As an all school reward day for earning Hoot Cards, Pine Glen had career day today. Students dressed in outfits showing what career they would like to have when they grow up. Staff dressed up as what career they might be doing if they were not in education.

Kindergarten Concert
Kindergarten had their concert and lunch today. The students had turkey hats and sang songs like Albuquerque Turkey and Timothy Turkey.

LABBB Collaborative
The LABBB Collaborative helps students with special needs reach their full potential through high quality programs that integrate academic, social, recreational and vocational services and enable participation in the least restrictive environment. Their Burlington classrooms are located in BHS, Memorial, Fox Hill and Francis Wyman. On December 2, 2017, the LABBB Best Buddies are holding their 9th Annual Craft fair to support various programs and activities. See the flyer below for more information.

Grade 4
Today during my walkthrough's I saw Ms. Merlino using categorization to teach reading instruction. This high order thinking lesson helps students cement information into their long term memories. It is also very engaging to students.

Boston Bruins
Thank you very much to the PTO for organization the BFit presentation from the Boston Bruins. John Whitesides, the strength and conditioning coach for the Bruins, along with members of the Bruins promotion team talked to students at Pine Glen today about the importance of nutrition and exercise.
Thank you to all the students who volunteered to exercise. Also, thank you to Mrs. Hanafin, Ms. Merlino, Mrs. Visocchi, Mrs. Petelle, Ms. Trahan, Ms. Tigges, Mrs. Hilton, Ms. Jackson, Ms. Miliano, and Ms. Mills for helping to demonstrate how to exercise.
